Political philosophers have always sought the ideal society in which the human being is able to get self-accomplishment and affirmation. This society should be possible with the accession of modern democracy. But we notice that this political system does not favor the development of a real citizenship able to make a harmonious collective life. Some hindrances to citizenship in democratic states are revealed to be brakes to the promotion of ethics. The disrespect of the human dignity in particular, of human rights in general, the violation of civic, political and socio-economic rights are some aporias of the ethic which harm citizenship. So, it is a duty to restore this citizenship through the culture of virtuous governance and a true education.
