Plagiarism check
Manuscript originality and integrity
Cahiers Africains de Rhétorique uses Plagiarism Checker X to assist with similarity screening. The editorial team interprets the findings in accordance with the journal’s publication ethics policy.
-
A tool supporting editorial review
A similarity report helps identify passages that may require verification. It does not replace scholarly reading of the manuscript or examination of its sources.
A similarity percentage alone is not proof of plagiarism.
-
Contextual assessment
The editorial team distinguishes properly attributed quotations, references and standard wording from unacknowledged reuse. It examines the nature and extent of the passages concerned.
The 20% reference threshold in the ethics policy prompts closer examination; it does not trigger an automatic decision.
-
Authors’ responsibilities
Submit original work; attribute borrowed ideas and passages; disclose reuse of earlier work; and obtain permission for protected material where required.
The manuscript must not be submitted simultaneously to another journal.
-
Reasoned handling of concerns
When a concern arises, the editorial team examines the evidence and requests the author’s explanation. Depending on the established facts, it may request corrections or reject the manuscript. After publication, a correction or retraction may be necessary.
Established plagiarism may be identified regardless of the overall similarity score.
Before submission
Check quotations, references, rights to illustrations and data, and the originality of the analysis. Sources must be identifiable, and borrowed material clearly distinguished from your contribution.
Reporting a concern
Send the facts and supporting evidence to cahiersafricainsderhetorique@umng.cg, identifying the article by title, link or DOI. Reports are examined under the journal’s ethics procedure.
