Teaching and learning the pronunciation of the English back stress suffix 2 at secondary school

Abstract

Thi research work scrutinizes the pronunciation of English back stress suffix 2 in the teaching and learning process at secondary school. Data collection have been carried out through observation and questionnaires by Massala Mfoutou (2017), Koudissabaka (2018) and Kembissa (2019) in different pedagogical classes. It results that English back stress suffix items are mentioned in the official English syllabus. Actually, English suffixes are not used to teach pronunciation, but rather for word creation in English vocabulary lessons. Owing to explanatory method and 3Ps model, English back stress suffix 2 could be taught, learned and assessed with particular reference to the number of syllable which should be at least three (3) word syllables.
