As words are links of society and repositories of all our knowledge, it follows that the imperfection of languages is a source of error. It would be impossible to reduce the French to the plane of nature, and to liberate it entirely from the caprices of use. The fate of all languages is to experience modifications; it is not up to the men who have not influenced our own, and removed its "good use" in idiom appropriate by the people of Côte d'Ivoire. When a people are composite, their language frees themselves from the French of France and establishes a link between worlds and thoughts.
